Salisbury Man Jailed for 47-Mile Police Chase: A Reckless Journey Ends in Prison
A thrilling yet dangerous pursuit unfolded on the roads of Salisbury, as a 20-year-old man, Ryan Moore, led Wiltshire Police on a 47-mile chase. The incident began when officers spotted his Mercedes A Class on Avon Approach, suspecting a connection to a drug deal. Moore's decision to flee in his vehicle put lives at risk, as he reached speeds of 120 mph, weaving through traffic and even entering a stretch of roadworks.
The pursuit ended near Fleet Services when Moore ran out of fuel, bringing his reckless journey to a halt. During the chase, he failed a drugs test for cannabis and was found to have cloned plates on his car. At Salisbury Crown Court, Moore faced the consequences of his actions, pleading guilty to multiple offenses, including dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, lack of insurance, and using fraudulent registration plates. He was sentenced to eight months in prison, disqualified from driving for three years and four months, and his behavior was deemed a serious threat to road safety.
PC Pedliham, from the Salisbury Community Policing Team, emphasized the gravity of Moore's actions, stating that his decisions put the lives of other road users at serious risk.
