The Fastest Knockout Record: A Tale of Timekeeping Errors
Jorge Masvidal's legendary flying knee at UFC 239, which put Ben Askren out in a mere five seconds, is a record-breaking moment in UFC history. But here's where it gets controversial...
Duane Ludwig, with his controversial quick finish at Ultimate Fight Night 3, holds the unofficial record for the fastest knockout. Ludwig's straight right hand sent Jonathan Goulet crashing to the mat in just six seconds, but due to a timekeeping error, the official finish time was recorded as 11 seconds.
Furious fans demanded justice, and Dana White, the UFC boss, stepped in. He awarded Ludwig the official fastest knockout time, despite the Nevada State Athletic Commission's refusal to revise the record.
"There's no legal avenue to overturn it," said Keith Kizer. Yet, the UFC promoted Ludwig's KO as the fastest for over a decade.
This brings us to the question: Should Dana White be more receptive to fan complaints about matchmaking?
And this is the part most people miss... White has made it clear that he won't be swayed by fan pressure. He recently ruled out a highly anticipated fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler at the upcoming UFC White House event.
So, what do you think? Is White being too stubborn, or is he standing his ground? Join the debate and share your thoughts!
