Far Cry TV Series Announced! FX Brings Ubisoft's Iconic Game to Life (2026)

FX Takes Aim with a Bold Far Cry Anthology Series

Get ready, gamers and TV lovers — FX has officially greenlit a daring new anthology series inspired by Ubisoft’s globally acclaimed Far Cry franchise. And here’s where it gets exciting: Just like the video games, each season will reinvent itself with a fresh location, new characters, and a standalone storyline that dives deep into chaos, morality, and survival. The show will stream exclusively on Hulu for U.S. audiences and on Disney+ for international viewers.

The project reunites two creative heavyweights: Rob Mac, the mind behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and the Emmy-winning Welcome to Wrexham, and Noah Hawley, celebrated creator of FX’s Emmy-winning Fargo and the upcoming Alien: Earth. Both are producing under their respective banners — Mac’s More Better Productions and Hawley’s 26 Keys. Adding even more excitement, Mac is also stepping in front of the camera as part of the series cast.

FX Entertainment President Nick Grad expressed the network’s enthusiasm, saying that FX’s collaboration with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley now spans six shows and thirty-two seasons — and that Far Cry might be their boldest venture yet. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to see these two visionary storytellers join forces again for Far Cry. Their combined creativity will no doubt turn this franchise into something original, tense, and wildly entertaining,” Grad said, adding generous thanks to Ubisoft for trusting FX with such a beloved property.

Mac, visibly excited by the partnership, described the project as a personal milestone. “Collaborating with Noah Hawley is something I’ve always dreamed about,” he shared. “Ubisoft has shown incredible trust in letting us explore one of gaming’s most iconic worlds. And as always, my FX family continues to back me with unwavering support.”

For Hawley, the connection between Far Cry and his storytelling roots feels natural. “What fascinates me about the Far Cry franchise is its anthology spirit,” he explained. “Each installment explores a variation on a theme — much like Fargo. We’re crafting a big, action-driven show that changes with every season, all while using chaos as a lens to examine the human condition. Partnering with Rob lets us bring our shared irreverence and ambition to life on screen.”

Behind the scenes, the production lineup is stacked with exceptional talent. Rob Mac, Noah Hawley, Emilia Serrano (26 Keys), Nick Frenkel (3 Arts), and Jackie Cohn (More Better Productions) will lead the executive producer team, joined by John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill representing Ubisoft Film & Television. FX Productions will oversee the show’s production.

But here’s the part most fans are buzzing about: Will this adaptation mirror the games’ explosive chaos and unpredictable villains — or carve out something entirely new? Some fans worry adaptation fatigue might set in, while others believe Far Cry’s anthology structure makes it perfect for television. What do you think — will FX’s Far Cry finally break the long-standing “video game curse” in Hollywood, or is the risk too high even for these seasoned creators?
