Sending your letters to Santa on time matters, Latvia’s postal service reminds us. To ensure delivery before the holidays, Latvian Post (Latvijas Pasts) urges customers to act promptly. The cutoff for domestic shipments is December 19, while international deliveries should be sent as early as possible—now is the latest moment for outbound international mail.
Latvian Post notes that about 94.7% of domestic shipments arrive the day after posting. However, holiday volumes rise, which can slow delivery speeds.
To reach a recipient in Latvia by Christmas, items must be handed over to Latvian Post at a parcel terminal, customer service point, post office, or by courier by December 19.
For international shipments, each destination’s timelines apply: universal service items typically take 3–15 days, while cross-border outbound shipments can take 4–35 days.
If the goal is delivery to European Union countries before the holidays, it’s best to send at the start of December. These guidelines cover both parcels and letters.
Latvian Post also announced four Christmas stamps designed by artist Māris Upenieks. One stamp supports charity—the purchase of each stamp donates one euro to the charity marathon Dod pieci!, which this year supports rehabilitating children and young people with neurological movement disorders.
If sending a letter to Santa, address it to: Ziemassvētku vecītim, Rūķupe, Ziemupes pasts, Vērgales pagasts, Dienvidkurzemes novads, LV-3463, by December 19.
