A major drug bust in Penang has shaken the community, with authorities uncovering a stash of narcotics worth over RM230,000. The raids, conducted between November 18 and 20, were a coordinated effort by the Penang police. In a statement, Penang police chief Comm Datuk Azizee Ismail revealed the extent of the operation. The team from Central Seberang Prai district police headquarters arrested the suspect in Seberang Jaya, where they discovered a vehicle filled with drugs. Among the seized items were transparent packets of heroin, methamphetamine, and Erimin 5 pills, as well as ecstasy pills.
But the story doesn't end there. After interrogating the suspect, police raided a residence in Batu Kawan, which was being used as a drug storage facility. Here, they found more drugs, including compressed dried leaves believed to be cannabis and additional heroin packets. The total value of the seizures, including a motorcycle and a chain, amounted to RM250,800.
Comm Azizee believes the suspect is part of a drug trafficking syndicate that has been operating since mid-2023. Despite testing negative for drugs, the suspect has a criminal record, including drug-related offenses. He has been remanded for seven days to assist in investigations under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
