Lion Ring, a cool-headed competitor, had just placed third in a race at Wolverhampton and was on his way back home to Chipping Norton with his trainer, Andy Martin. However, their journey took an unexpected turn when the horsebox encountered a brake issue, leaving them stranded on the motorway.
A Race Against Time
With drivers utilizing the hard shoulder as a fast lane, Martin had to act fast. He managed to find a layby, but the wait for rescue seemed endless - a full two hours.
"It was a scary moment," Martin recalled. "We thought the brake was seizing, and with the bearing acting up, it could've been dangerous. I was driving, and it was a terrifying experience."
A Team Effort
But here's where it gets controversial... or rather, commendable. The traffic police and recovery services stepped in, showcasing exemplary coordination. They swiftly shut down the M6 to ensure Lion Ring's safe transfer to the rescue lorry.
