Telegram's Android App Gets a Liquid Glass Makeover: A Controversial Choice?
Telegram for Android has undergone a significant redesign, embracing the Liquid Glass design language with an all-encompassing approach. This update, available now on Android v12.4.0 via the Play Store, showcases a fresh and bold new look.
Building upon the October/November 2025 update, which introduced a touch of Liquid Glass, Telegram has taken this aesthetic to the next level. The latest version features a four-tab bottom bar, reminiscent of iOS, and transparent elements that are more prominent in light mode. It's a clear inspiration from Apple's design language, but with a unique Telegram twist.
The four tabs - Chats, Contacts, Settings, and Profile - remain accessible even while scrolling, providing a seamless navigation experience. Additionally, the hamburger side menu has been completely removed, with its features now accessible through a three-dot overflow menu at the top right of the chats screen.
Telegram first introduced Liquid Glass on iOS in January, and now Android users can enjoy this design too. However, the reaction from users has been mixed, with some expressing dissatisfaction.
But here's where it gets interesting...
Telegram's bold move towards a Liquid Glass design has sparked debate. While some appreciate the fresh look, others find it controversial. It raises questions about the balance between design trends and user preference.
So, what's your take on Telegram's new design? Do you embrace the Liquid Glass aesthetic, or do you prefer a more traditional approach?
Let's discuss in the comments!
